\"\" Biography<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Asitha Prabath Mallawarachchi, am an academician in the field of Mass communication. I received my first degree in Mass Communication from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. There, I passed in the first class, scoring the highest GPA with a gold medal. Also, I won the \u2018Shelton Gunarathne scholarship\u2019 for the highest scoring student, making me the first student to win that scholarship in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During my undergraduate studies, I trained at several institutions. As a scriptwriter at Susila Productions House, I provided creative support for several teledramas. After that, I worked as a media assistant at the CAFFE organization and later as a journalist at Rivira News Paper. Following graduation, I joined the Ministry of Economic Development as a Press Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 I was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, at the University of Kelaniya in 2013. It was a turning point in my life as I started my academic career with that. In 2015 I chose to attend the University of Tokyo, Japan, for my postgraduate degree. There I studied for a master\u2019s degree in journalism, but I could not complete it as I had to return to Sri Lanka due to a sudden illness. Instead, I obtained a Master of Philosophy in Mass Communication from the University of Kelaniya in 2017. There I studied Gesture Communication. In 2018 I was appointed as a Lecturer in Mass Communication at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. I am currently teaching and looking in areas such as media research, print media, media and culture, and media criticism. Now I am a member of ECLIPSE18 where I am reading for a Ph.D. in Health Communication. I hope to create a model of how the media should deal with a health issue from that study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
