OVERVIEW<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Diploma in Environmental Management is a strategically designed academic program offered by the Department of Environmental Management, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. This program addresses the growing demand for professionals who can respond effectively to current and emerging environmental challenges, both locally and globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its establishment in 2015, the department has drawn from a strong academic tradition in environmental studies dating back to 1996. This 30-credit program, aligned with SLQF Level 3 \/ NVQ Level 5<\/strong>, aims to empower individuals, especially those with Advanced Level or NVQ Level 4 qualifications by providing access to higher education and specialized training in environmental management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diploma not only equips learners with essential theoretical and practical knowledge but also fosters critical skills and environmentally responsible attitudes required in today\u2019s workplace. Graduates are eligible for further academic progression and are well-positioned for professional roles in public and private institutions where environmental leadership and sustainable practices are essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RATIONALE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the light of the global environmental challenges all state and private sector institutions need to align their activities to an environmental friendly mode. This is more relevant in a situation where sustainable development goals are provided as universal concern for the next 15 years by the United Nations. Further, the government of Sri Lanka has declared the aforesaid goals as the policy of the country. Diploma programme has a huge demand from both privet and state sector institutions requesting a tracing on environmental management, this diploma program has been designed to prepare middle level workforce of both state and private sector and educated youth seeking to enter into jobs for the above purpose.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 AIMS OF THE DIPLOMA PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of this diploma programme is to provide knowledge, skills, competencies and attitudes of participants on environmental management which will definitely aid to improve environmental efficiency and effectiveness of various functions in the work place and to improve job performance of participants by reflecting the outcome in individual actions and in making awareness among common public in relation to understand and act on environmental issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must fulfill one of the following academic qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Passed G.C.E. (A\/L) in 03 subjects in one attempt Sinhala\/ Tamil\/English OR<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Completed NVQ level 4 OR<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Any other equivalent qualification acceptable to the Senate upon the recommendation of the Board of Studies (G.C.E. (O\/L) Pass 6 subjects with first attempt) AND <\/strong>A pass mark 40% at the selection test of the Diploma Course in Environmental Management conducted by the relevant Department.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
