Message from the Head

Welcome to the Department of English Language Teaching of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The Department of English Language Teaching remains one of the main departments providing the nation with professionally qualified graduates with a good command of English who could serve as teachers, educators, supervisors, and administrators.

To accomplish this, the department aims to instill the concept of life long learning into the students. The four pillars of language learning; listening, speaking, reading and writing are integrated in the course delivery to ensure a balanced development of language skills.

Over the years, the importance of paying attention, not only to what is taught, but how it is taught has become a trademark in the delivery of our programmes. Apart from the undergraduate programmes in English, the department has also embarked on serving the community by conducting a range of extension courses in English which have been well received by the candidates.

According to the reports from our students, the disposition, experience, and knowledge of our lecturers are to be admired.

As the Head of the Department of English Language Teaching, it gives me great pleasure in endorsing the department’s reputation for producing quality practitioners.
