Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer (Grade II) in Sinhala  attached to Department of Languages. I am the Subject Coordinator in Sinhala.  My special research area is Linguistics. I am a author of novels and short stories. I am a translator and a poet. I am from Mawanella. I studied at Kg/St.Josephs’ B.M.V., University of Peadeniya, University of Kelaniya and University of Delhi. I have many achievements at Island, provincial, district and zonal levels.  


Educational qualifications

  • Ph.D (KLN), M.Phil. (PDN), B.A.(Hon) (PDN), Diploma in Tamil (KLN)-Merit pass, Diploma in Translation & Interpretation (KLN)
  • Successfully completed the Staff Development Course at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka –2014.
  • Successfully completed the Extension Course in English for Professionals (Intermediate Level) which was conducted by the Department of English at the University of Peradeniya – 2008.
  • Distinction Pass has been obtained in the English and Skills Development Programme conducted by the English Language Teaching Unit & Career Guidance Unit at the University of Peradeniya -2007.

Publication

  • Amawake Sanda Paya :
    This is a novel which describes climate and social changes which will happen in 2048. There are some predictions in this novel. It was offered to the president on 24-02-2012. It was published as an Ariya publication in 2012. 165 copies of this novel have been bought by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in 2013.
  • Anathaya saha Thawath Katha :
    This  is  a translation  of  selected short stories from The Lost  one  and  Other  Stories  which  was  written  by  Mrs. Nirmali  Hettiarachchi. “The Lost One” has been honored by ‘Deustschewelle’ prize as the best short story of South Asia.  It was published as a Godage publication in 2010.
  • Vana Vikum :
    This is a novel for youths that was published as an author publication in 2007.
  • Peththappugen Padamak :
    This is a story for children which was published as an author publication in 2006.
  • Raththaran Kurulla:
    This is a story for children which was published as a Godage publication in 2018.

    This is the edited Ph.D thesis which was awarded by the National Centre for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences in  2015
  • Buthsarane Wakya Winyasaya:
    This is the edited M.Phil. thesis which was awarded the ‘Gate Mudliyar A.G. Thilakarathne Postgraduate Research Fellowship’ at  the University of Peradeniya in 2009. This syntactical study is important for both Linguistics and Sinhalese Classical Literature. So far no other syntactical study has been done on this.
