Biography

Wasanta K. Dissanayake, Professor in Sinhala, obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) First Class Degree in Sinhala from the University of Peradeniya in 1992 and Master of Philosophy Degree in the field of Sinhala and related with Social Cultural Anthropology from the same University in 2002. He has won a University Scholarship for Bachelor of Art in 1992 and The Great Muddali A.G. Tilakarathna Fellowship for Master of Philosophy in 2002. Subsequently he obtained his PhD in Nanjing Normal University in China in 2006, specializing in field of Comparative World Literature. He has won a Full Scholarship for his PhD from PR OF China in 2002. Presently he is the Professor in Sinhala and he has engaged in teaching both undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses in Modern and Ancient Sinhala language and Culture, Linguistic, Social Cultural Anthropology, Writing Skills in Education in the Department of Languages, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. He is the former Head of the Department of Languages and also former Director of the Postgraduate Education Programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Mihintale.
