Under the instructions of Prof. E. M. S. Ekanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, the Dean’s Office successfully organized a Dengue Prevention Shramadana Campaign with the objective of promoting environmental cleanliness and raising awareness about dengue prevention.
The campaign was coordinated by Dr. Prabhash Siriwardana, Head of the Department of Social Sciences, together with the coordinators of the other departments of the Faculty. The initiative witnessed the active participation of students, academic staff, and non-academic staff representing all departments of the Faculty, reflecting a collective commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier university environment.
During the campaign, participants worked together to clean the university premises, eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites, and promote awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent the spread of dengue.
This initiative highlighted the importance of community participation in preventing the spread of dengue and demonstrated the Faculty’s commitment to fostering environmental responsibility and public health awareness. By working together, participants reinforced the message that maintaining clean surroundings is a shared responsibility and an essential step in protecting the well-being of the university community.
