International Research Symposium at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka Focuses on Multidisciplinary Research for Sustainability

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka successfully hosted the International Research Symposium on 17th December 2024 under the theme “Developing Multidisciplinary Research for Sustainability.” The event, held at the university premises, brought together esteemed academics, researchers, and professionals to discuss and promote sustainable practices through multidisciplinary research.

The symposium was graced by Dr. P.H.G. Janaka Pushpakumara, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, as the Chief Guest. Highlighting the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in addressing sustainability challenges, the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Vishalache Balakrishnan from the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya.

The event witnessed active participation from the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, academic staff, and non-academic staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH).

The research symposium was meticulously organized under the leadership of Professor D.M.S.L.B. Dissanayake, Chairman of the Research Session. Supporting the event were Dr. S.A.U. Niranjala and T.M.C.D. Senaratne, who served as Assistant Secretaries.

This symposium showcased the university’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research and its vital role in shaping sustainable futures. The discussions and collaborations during the session highlighted innovative approaches to solving pressing global and local issues, emphasizing sustainability as a cornerstone for development.
