Online Inauguration Ceremony for the 2024/2025 intake

The Online Inauguration Ceremony for the 2024/2025 intake of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, was successfully held on 10 June 2026 at 10.00 a.m. at the Faculty Board Room, officially welcoming 452 newly enrolled undergraduates to the faculty.

. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. E.M.S. Ekanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, who warmly welcomed the students and highlighted the importance of academic excellence, personal development, and active participation in university life. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nilmini Dayananda, Orientation Programme Coordinator

The event was attended by the Heads of Departments of the Faculty, including Dr. W.M.T.B. Wijepala, Head of the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Management; Prof. S.W.G.K. Bulankulama, Head of the Department of Economics; Mr. D.A. Wehella, Head of the Department of English Language Teaching; Prof. P.S.K. Rajapakshe, Head of the Department of Environmental Management; Prof. M.K.L. Irangani, Head of the Department of Humanities; Ven. Prof. Olaganwaththe Chandasiri Thero, Head of the Department of Languages; Prof. D.S.W. Gunawardhana, Head of the Department of Information Technology; and Dr. K.G.A.P. Prabhash Siriwardhana, Head of the Department of Social Sciences.

The gathering was further enriched by the presence of Mrs. K. Lakshana, Senior Assistant Registrar of the Faculty, and Ven. Galkulame Uparathana Thero, Senior Student Counselor, whose participation reflected the faculty’s commitment to supporting students throughout their academic journey.

The ceremony concluded successfully, providing the new undergraduates with an inspiring introduction to university life and the opportunities available within the faculty. It marked the beginning of a transformative academic journey, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging students to strive for excellence throughout their studies at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
