About

Undergraduate Research Symposium of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities(URSSSH)

The 5th  Undergraduate Research Symposium on Social Sciences and Humanities 2025 (URSSSH-2025), organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, aims to provide a dedicated platform for undergraduates pursuing Honours and Bachelor degree programs across various disciplines within the faculty. While final-year students in these programs are required to conduct research and submit dissertations or reports as part of their degree completion, there has been no formal opportunity to present and disseminate their research findings.

To address this gap, the Faculty has decided to host this annual symposium to encourage young researchers to share their work, foster academic dialogue, and contribute to national development. The symposium is exclusively open to undergraduates of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. The submission of extended abstracts is compulsory for final-year students enrolled in the BA (Hons.) Degree programs (2019/2020 Batch). For students currently in the final year of the BA Degree program (2020/2021 Batch), submission is optional, but encouraged. Extended abstracts of all accepted submissions will be published as part of the Symposium Proceedings. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process by a panel of experts, and participants are required to present their research in person.

Aim:

The symposium aims to disseminate knowledge generated through undergraduate research and to foster a strong research culture among undergraduate students.

Theme:

“Advancing Knowledge: Empowering Undergraduates to Overcome Future Challenges”
